During pregnancy, she asked herself an important question. How would she be able to inspire her unborn son to follow his dreams and reach for the stars, if she never had the guts to do it herself? Jessica decided to take a risk and unleash the plethora of characters and their crazy adventurous worlds that had previously existed only in her mind, into the realm of readers. She did this with hopes to inspire not only her son but herself. Inviting the world to tag along on her journey to become the writer she has always wanted to be. She hopes to continue writing and bringing her signature Caged Fantasies to readers everywhere.

“You’ve returned for information?” Alesea inquired after the doors to the chamber sealed shut. She used her affinity, moving the air to create a soundproof barrier. What they were going to speak about was no one’s concern but theirs. Briar wouldn’t be far … hell, she may even be waiting by the door trying to listen in.
“No, not for that, I received that from you once before. What I’ve returned for is clarification. Understanding. Tell me, how is it that the last time I was here, you gave me information in exchange for my help, and yet now, many years later, I come to find out that what you told me was false?” He expanded his body and his voice, filling the room with his energy. Jinn wanted her to feel his anger as if it would suffocate her. He wanted her to fear what he was capable of. If she lied to him yet again, she would pay the consequences.
“I provided the knowledge I had.” Alesea remained calm, her voice as cool as the breeze continuously swirling around her, shifting the thin fabrics of her dress.
“You provided hearsay, not knowledge! You said she was dead, taken out by the warlock while I was away.” The two remained standing, mere feet separating her small frame and his dark form which continued to expand.
“And that was the truth I had to provide.”
“Really? I can hear it, you know, the flutter of your heart every time you lie to me. Please, do not continue.” He stepped closer to her. “Tell me, did you verify these facts? Did you see her death personally? Did you do more than ask a few questions of those you passed in the halls?”
“What do you want, Jinn?” The queen lifted her chin, asserting her own power. If he dared to touch her, she would drop her shield and call for the guards.
“The truth.” He paused. “Either you give me the truth I want, or I will spread the truth you hope none of your people ever find out about.” His voice lowered as he leaned closer to her. He had her and they both knew it. “How would they take it? The knowledge that you, their queen, cut down the last.”
“She was a tyrant, evil, and working with the darkest of magic! You know that I had to do what I did.” Alesea took a step back from the djinn.
“I don’t know that you had to do anything. Yes, all is true regarding her activities, but you killed her, Alesea, and you know as well as I do, fairies are loyal. They stick by their queen no matter what. You betrayed her, which means you betrayed them all.”
“What can I do?”
“Correct the error you made. You have one day. I want to know the truth. Where is Nitara?” He turned to leave the room. “You will bring word, not one of your messengers, you. Or this city that you love so much will burn to the ground, by the hands of your own.”
“You’ll only implement yourself!” She called out the empty threat, her last attempt at swaying his decision.
“Yes, but unlike you, I actually possess the strength to protect myself.” He pointed to the thrown from which she climbed down. “You are nothing if removed from the throne. If disconnected from the source of your power, how many of them would it take to cut you down like you did your former queen?”
“Jinn, please.”
He shushed her, holding up one finger to her. “One day, Alesea.” He left the room.
“Is everything okay?” Briar reentered the room once Jinn had made his exit.
“No, unfortunately, it is not. The world is about to change, Briar.”  She dropped her head back to stare through the glass ceiling that gave her visage to the night sky. “Retrieve the seer, please.”

Veiled Blog Tour/ Review With Stacey Rourke

Title: Veiled
Author: Stacey Rourke
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Cover Designer: Wicked Book Covers
Hosted by: Lady Amber’s PR
Blurb:  Political propaganda would have us believe vampires are our friends. Fanged teddy bears misunderstood thanks to archaic lore. Activists picket for them to be welcomed into our society.
They claim vamps don't kill.
They preach we are safe.
They ... are dead wrong.
One year ago a hive slaughtered my family and left me for dead. Found by a team of scientists with their own agenda, I was forged into an unstoppable weapon.
I possess their strength, with none of their weaknesses.
I can move among them free from their crippling hunger.
I am their greatest threat.
Armed with this arsenal, vengeance will feed my desire to penetrate the seedy underbelly of their fetishized lifestyle and expose them for the monsters they truly are.
Review:
I got a chance to read this wonderful book from one of my many favorite authors. It was something different to what she normally writes, but definitely wasn't an offput to her character. Veiled is a Vampire book with campaigns, true to vamp world's, and funny characters that make you laugh. You do have to pay attention when reading each chapter as the Cause/Effect changes in the storyline. Each chapter goes with the story either as Cause/Effect and makes trying to get the characters into the readers minds. It's a wonderful brilliant read that changes Vampire related books that all know.

“Comparing us to aberrant criminals? How do you justify making such a bold leap?”
“With centuries of murders, torture, and feedings!” he exploded, hopping in his seat as if suppressing the urge to leap onto the tabletop and douse me with holy water. “All of these vile acts have been committed under the teachings of your demonic demi-god, Vlad Draculesti. Your immortal Lord Impaler.”
One corner of my mouth tugged back in a knowing smirk. “And no one has ever killed, maimed, or committed genocide in the name of Christ?”
“It’s a sorry argument to use our history against us!”
“Yes, it is!” I vehemently agreed. “And yet that is exactly what humans subject us to. You fault us for the mistakes our kind has made in the past, mocking our deity without truly understanding his teachings. Meanwhile, you fetishize our culture and use it in your foreplay. Statistically speaking, human on human deaths outweigh vampire-on-human deaths twenty-three hundred to one. And why is that? Because humans take their passions too far, while when we pair with a human we focus on building a lasting relationship built on trust, safety, and security.”
“Humans you keep around for feeding and screwing!” my opponent hollered, spittle bubbling in the corners of his mouth. “You’re vicious killers!”
“My apologies to our viewers for that use of inappropriate language,” the prim and poised moderator stated into the camera before fixing her critical gaze on the frothing conservative. “Mayor Donaldson, I again ask you to control these outbursts or we will have no choice but to conclude our debate.”
Before his mouth could open to protest further, I leaned in and caught him with my narrowed gaze. “Show me proof. Where is the recorded documentation of these crimes you’re accusing us of? I tell you what, while you hunt to find that, I will wander into any costume shop or Halloween store and snag a set of fangs and a gothic cape that misrepresent us as night prowling fiends. The so-called facts you are basing your viewpoint on are myths formulated by your own kind to make us these legendary creatures that go bump in the night. Thank you, for granting me more power than I can fathom. That said, you should know I can’t turn into a bat, I spend as much time in front of the mirror as the next gal, and I enjoy a few extra shakes of garlic on my pasta. I’m not a monster, Mayor Donaldson. I am a vampire citizen who wants the same rights you take for granted.”

Cassandra Mercier died at the ripe old age of twenty-one and is now gainfully employed by the Afterlife Corporation as a Karma operative...and she’s been working overtime.

Chapter 5
Now Hiring
“Cassie! Where ya been?” A dripping wet Fallon trotted around the pool toward me.
“A little R and R,” I lied to keep up the charade. I didn’t want to explain the atrocity that had become my life.
“Jelly!” She rolled her eyes. “How’d you get something like that, you’ve been gone forever?” She emphasized the forever in an exaggerated accent.
“I guess I was stressed,” I shrugged.
“You missed all the drama, girl.” Her eyes were as big as saucers, her lips pursed like a fish to emphasize all the crazy. It took everything in me not to roll my eyes.
“Fill me in.” I really didn’t want to know, but it was expected and I didn’t want to hurt Fallon’s feelings.
“Not while you’re wearing that,” she frowned at me. I looked down. I was in a thin shirt that was boxy and not flattering, the only thing under it was a sports bra and cotton panties with leggings. So much for inconspicuous. I looked like I had recently escaped a mental institution. I tapped my bra self-consciously; the two vials of liquid were still there.
To fit in, I manifested a bathing suit, and a tiny purse to hold my vials, then trailed after Fallon as she chatted her way to the pool.
“Persephone is finally gone, we have a new boss. Ohemgee, Cassie, he’s fucking hot, like hot hot, not like nerdy hot Brandon. Like my panties are tingly wet just thinking about him.” She squeezed my arm and I tried not to wince. “He’s not exactly receptive to any of us, though. Kind of scowly, and bossy. He yelled at me a few times.”
“Scowly?” I asked. She rolled her eyes and handed me a beer from the cooler next to the pool.
“Oh, and Trish and Otto are an item, like really an item, moved their shit into one house and stuff, calling themselves Trotto, or maybe Trito, I don’t know, but it’s weird. Em said she heard them fighting and hot new boss guy went over there to break it up. It was a mess.”
“Trish and Otto?” I asked stupidly. I couldn’t place an Otto.
“Yeah, they do make a cute couple,” Fallon sighed and glanced over at Trent who was sun bathing, even though he could tan with a thought. Fallon had been crushing on him for a while. Sensing eyes on him, Trent sat up, took his sunglasses off, and did the cool-guy-chin-jut-greeting thing.
“Hey Cassie! You’re back. Boss said you’d be back today. Well, he said the missing operative would be back today. Never said your name or anything, just that if we see 'the missing operative', to tell her to go to his office immediately because he’s tired of being fucking short-staffed…” Trent said in one breath.
“Yeah, I think I already have a case,” I responded despondently. I guess it made sense, considering I was supposed to be on some kind of weird Afterlife vacation for the last month. I really didn’t want another case though.
“Already, really girl?” Fallon rolled her eyes. “Whatevs, you’ve been off duty for like months. Wish.” I had the urge to tell her all about my off duty status. Maybe that would wipe that frown off her face, but I bit my tongue and kept it to myself.
“Months? It was that long for you guys too?” For some reason I thought it would only be that long for me.
“Yeah, you never came back from your last case. That was like, at least 3 months ago.” Fallon frowned at me. “We thought something happened, or you got promoted without them telling us. That would have sucked. They didn’t tell us shit. But it happens like that sometimes.”
“They said it was only a month or two,” I replied. “That’s what they told me.” Fallon shook her head and Trent looked skeptical.
“You were on R and R and you didn’t know how long it was? Where did you go? Antarctica?” Trent asked.
“Uh, no, just like a relaxing place in Afterlife.”
“I’ve never heard of an operative doing that.” Trent got up from his chair so he could grab a beer.
“I don’t like to be normal,” I shrugged and Fallon laughed a little harder than the joke required, like she was faking it or didn’t get the joke.
“Don’t worry. No one thinks you’re normal.” She laughed again loudly and I frowned, not sure if I should take it as a compliment or an insult.
