~* Sugar Love *~ By: Victoria H. Smith

Title: Sugar Love
Author: Victoria H. Smith
Genre: Interracial Romance
Sugar...

That's some kind of name, isn't it?

It wasn't any type of name I'd heard of, but across the world, it seemed I was the only one.

You see, he's an international superstar, talented, sexy, and one day, he comes walking into my record store. He tells me he wants to buy some music, and later on, wants to get to know me a little better.

I had no idea he was here for his American debut, nor that he was one of the most successful rappers South Korean music had ever seen. If I had, I might not have been so frazzled when I found out and accidentally kidnapped him.

But then again...

Maybe that wouldn’t have mattered anyway.

Penned Con St. Louis 2016

Penned Con 2016 St. louis

Penned Con is a all out Author fun time. 150+ Authors, 2 huge rooms with authors and their tables set up with their famous books and new releases, Tables lined the hallway with swag, 2 more Authors had a shared table out there, St. Louis Library, Missouri Writer's Guild, Silent Auction Table, Raffle Table. One room for Panels (that i missed), A whole 2 days of non-stop fun for readers, bloggers, authors to get together and Proceeds go to Autism.

This was my first time attending something like. I have heard about it the last 2 years, never clicked the link to see who was attending, or what it was. I literally have missed many opportunities to see my favorite Authors! I took my Mother who got me into reading and she loved it!!! Our Favorite Author was there (Laura Hawks) and we have actually known Laura before she became an Author. I had so much fun, that I will be spending this whole week trying to figure out which books I bought that I want to read first.

My first day, I took all 3 of my kids. I let them skip school to have this chance to see Authors, who I know they will never have this chance unless I get lucky to grab tickets for more of these events. My kids were not really into books. We live next door to our Public Library and have been there many times, kids get books, but really at their ages they should want to read, to get into something other then watching tv constantly. They really surprised me! My middle child spaz when I went to one of my favorite authors after catching up to me. Stacey Rourke completely made my day when she actually recognized my name from the many times I have been on her fan page and her release parties. It was hard to decide which book set I wanted, and having my child look at those books, listen to when I told her about the Legends Saga, and go "Can I read these?", Ummmm YES you can read it! I have it on my kindle and since I have read it and approved it for her age, she can go ahead to read it. I ended up buying her Griffon series, which I will end up buying the Legends Saga and her other series!

Tish Thawer was my other author, same room, couple rows away from Stacey. I loved her 'Witches of Blackbrook' book so much on my kindle, that I had to buy it in paperback! I have seen her 'Women of Purgatory Series' on her FB fan page and had to buy BOTH books as 1 is not even out yet!!! Tish was amazing, and I did my girlie fan scream going up to her table! I even went back the 2nd day with my middle child to ask about graphic material in the "Women of Purgatory", Since I just bought them, I needed to know, "Do I need to block my child from attempting to read this?" The answer is YES! She can read Witches of Blackbrook but not this one until she's older.... I may or may not let her LOL

I also got to meet Cameo Renae! I have one of her books on my kindle (of course I forgot which one lol) so I had to buy on of hers! She was so sweet and amazing, and loved that I follow her on social media too. She is one that I had met through Tish, Stacey, and Regina ( R. K. Ryals). She had an assistant with her and I could of swore it was family, they looked liked twins I almost doubled checked myself before I saw the Gold tag hanging from Cameo's neck.

I managed to meet a couple more authors that I actually got a friend request from right before attending this event. Catherine Stine, Beth Carter, Madge Gressley, Tierney James. I love having Authors as friends on Social Media. It literally makes scrolling through the post worth it to see books show up on the newsfeed that I could of possibly missed!

Day 1 I did not make it to all the tables. I was so quiet and I actually forgot what Genres I love to read, and Authors!!! I had about 5 Authors ask me that question and it's like I froze up and went dumb for a second. I never really thought about the genres when I read. I just read, write reviews, and buy more books after reading the first book! I have never had an author who I didn't love their books. My kindle is full of books from random authors.

Day 2 I had only 1 child with my mother and I. I had a goal to get through all the tables in both rooms, double check to sign all the newsletters, ask quick questions about genres of every table, make sure I SPOKE up about being a blogger and getting my 2 books I just had to have!!! I accomplished almost all of that! I had from 11-2 to get through both rooms and almost made it to everyone. I actually missed about 5 tables as they were already gone but thanks to SWAG I can go through and match up names to swag and see who I missed and look them up. I need to expand my library and genres and thats exactly what Penned Con gave me!

I definitely overspent my budget but lucky my husband was okay with it. We had already paid up and over our bills so my splurge was not affecting us, and I met authors who had YA books that my kids can read. Can we say CHRISTMAS presents for my kids!!!! Penned Con really landed on the perfect date for me. Just in time for me to attempt to ask my kids for present ideas, and books will be on that list thanks to the Authors who took the time and talked with me and my kids about books.

I loved that between the Panels, the Signing Room, and getting to all the tables in the Hallway, This was set up really awesome! I had time to talk to some authors more since they had more series/books and get to know their writing styles so I can expand my library. I love my kindle e-books but having those Paperbacks with signatures signed to me are the real treat for these events. I will have to say this. I have never been to an event that everyone took the time for new readers, made that connection with us, and didn't push their books on us. That really made it more special to me.

My first thought when I saw the advertisement was WOW! my authors are going to be there. I need to tell my mother about it. I had not bought my tickets since I was attending my business conference and I needed to go. I could not pass the chance to see all my uplines in my group but I also needed to be at Penned Con. Lucky for me Tish Thawer had asked on her "Book Coven" if anyone was attending and I caught the post back in July. She gave me 2 tickets that covered the 2 day event for book signings, panels, and workshops. I didn't need to attend the Red Coat party or the Luau party as I do have kids who need me at home. I live 20 minutes from St. Louis on the Illinois side of the River. It was easy for me to get in my car and drive over.

My advice for readers? If you get the chance to attend any event with Authors.... GO TO THEM!!! It is an experience you don't want to miss out on! Plus it benefits Autism and that completely rocks! I love knowing that these events were not just for Authors to meet their fans, and bloggers, but it benefited something people don't quite understand or really care about.... and honestly that actually breaks my heart that we live in a world that people just don't care about events that benefits things like this.

Amy Miles (Author) and her Rick Miles put this together and they did an amazing job. They even had their son L.G. Miles who Amy helped write a book there with a cute table and I just had to buy 2 for my girls to read.

If your ever in the St. Louis Area and love books or want to get into books. Check out Penned Con! They already have dates set up for next year and have authors signing up to attend. It is an experience that you will never forget and will take back more and more love for reading.

*~Direct Sales Part 2~*

Direct Sales Part 2

The Direct Sales Industry is one that allows people to build a business around their own schedule, allowing the potential for financial freedom on their own terms.

JIC Nation! OMG!! I could literally go on about this company, and it is definitely not because I am a REP for this company either! I just literally love the products and so does my kids and surprisingly my husband also. <insert shocked face>

JIC is a home party company promoting a healthy lifestyle through natural products like soy candles, wax tarts, skin care, and coffee. Selected products include your choice of jewelry hidden inside valued from $10 to $10,000, plus other bonus prizes! Since 2013, our mission has always been to promote a healthy and happy lifestyle through natural, eco-friendly products that are made in the U.S.A. Starting with 100% soy scented candles and wax tarts with your choice of jewelry hidden inside, our dream was to make candles that last longer, smell great, and are an earth-friendly alternative to paraffin candles. Now, with the overwhelming support of our independent reps and loyal customers, JIC also creates natural skin care alternatives (Certified ToxicFree Body Butters and Organic Wrinkle Erasers) and healthy instant coffee that promotes a healthier you, from the inside out.
After only 3 years, we are proud to provide financial freedom for thousands of independent representatives throughout the world. We hope you love our products as much as we do!

Now can you see why I love this company??? The Candles, Tarts, Body Butters, Scrubs, Coffee, and a Premium Pink Flame candle line! The best part..... 100% Soy!!!! I love healthy products, and I love CANDLES!!!! The Bonus is Jewelry and I love getting a ring in my size or my husbands, i even love the earrings or necklaces i can get. Now believe me don't get me started on the Pink Flame!
Since my wonderful Company is only 3 years old, you can bet your bottom luck we have gone through a huge "Wave"! We have expanded these past 3 years and it's been a very tough journey for those who have been there from the start! Jic is constantly making improvements to better things for it's reps and our customers. I am currently under an AMAZING TEAM!!! We are dubbed the #SweetTarts and my "TOP DOG" as I call this amazing person has been such a strong leader, friend, and inspiration to the whole team.

Meet my TOP DOG Mandi Pugh: Executive Director!  This is what she has to say about JIC.....
"JIC is not a get rich quick scheme, it is a business and when treated like one can provide a great amount of success by opening doors for great personal and professional growth. JIC has given my family the opportunity to go on vacations, host an exchange student from Spain, and send our children on amazing adventures not otherwise possible. I have made friends and connections that will last a lifetime."
"I chose JIC before I ever heard of other companies selling this type of product (it was a lucky FB ad back in 2013). I stayed with JIC because they never made me feel like I wanted or needed to be somewhere else, I have felt like I belonged here since the moment I made that first decision."
"The reason I love JIC is their honesty. I have been through a lot of ups and downs as JIC has dealt with some significant growing pains but they have remained honest and focused on the best outcome for their reps and customers at all times. Our products speak for themselves and our support is like no other." ❤
Since I am a Rep, I have made many contacts through the team, conference, and the groups we have set up. I decided to ask around for some quotes on this one. I wanted to know why some of the reps who are working their business and succeeding chose the company and/or chose to be in Direct Sales. We have some competitors and I've always wonder out of all the other companies why this one, what keeps them here. We have some amazing answers from different levels of Representatives.

Ashley Hunt "Representative" said: "I chose direct sales so that my husband could eventually quit his job and be able to stay home with our kids. It definitely takes a lot of determination to build your business. You have to stay consistent with the postings"

Tina Kiskaden "Senior Representative" said "I love that it gives me freedom to spend time with my family and still take care of them financially"

Olivia Scarbrough "Senior Team Leader" said "I never thought I would end up in the business of Direct Sales, but when opportunities presented themselves, I chose Jewelry In Candles over other companies because I absolutely fell in love with the products. They are the best quality on the market! What has kept me a rep for jic after 17 months is the perks of being a rep, the support and encouragement I receive from other reps and leaders, and the fact we have a CEO who is so personable and actually talks and listens to what we reps have to say. It is a company that is absolutely top notch!"

I could literally go on and on about this Company and have so many people say wonderful things about it. I could not have asked for a better team to be under, a better CEO or VP of Sales to connect with and have them listen to us REPS to better the company and us as representatives. JIC has given so many us welcoming hands and have taken the time to listen to our requests to better our businesses and the Company.

JIC has also not only helped us a reps build a business, but we have also help #GiveBack. JIC has teamed up with Dream Factory and Quota International. The President of Dream Factory recently awarded JIC this years "President's Award" for our Corporate Sponsorship and raising nearly $30,000 to fund the dreams of chronically ill children!! Great Job JIC Nation!!!
Did you know that 93% of every dollar raised goes to fund a child's dream, and there's only 4 paid staff for the entire organization? I met so many great people who volunteer their time to fuel this company. So happy to work with a world class organization! #DreamFactory #JICnation #JICgivesback

*~Direct Sales Part 1~*

Direct Sales

We have heard this term before. Whether it's a family, friend, co-worker, college student, or friend of a friend! You may know a lot of Reps for companies or you could be one yourself!

Direct Sales are built by people wanting to start a business, so they get friends together and they start off small and grow to a big corporation with thousands of reps in different countries. It takes a lot of skills and qualities that people have learned to be successful in creating a business and making it profitable to the reps.

You may have seen a Direct Sales Company in your town. Avon, ItWorks, Tupperware, JIC Nation, Scentsy, Perfectly Posh, Arbonne to name a few. These companies have Reps/ Distributors who promote and sell their products and make money for each sale.

Being a Direct Sales rep can be very rewarding. There are many reasons why someone would want to join as a Rep or a Distributor. Some are there so they can stay home with their kids, some wanted an extra job that would help bring extra money. Some are college students who wanted to work their own business while staying on top of classes. There are many possible answers to why join a D. S. Company.

Lets Check out ItWorks! You might of heard of this company, you know "The Crazy Wrap Thing"

It Works! is a direct selling company that offers professional quality beauty and wellness products.
Founded in 2001, It Works! is a direct selling company that offers professional quality beauty and wellness products that both reflect high standards of integrity and reach consumers at affordable prices. In 2013, It Works! was ranked on Inc. magazine's prestigious Inc. 500 list at No. 290 with 1,565.3% growth over the past three years and as one of the 50 fastest-growing companies in its category. It Works! also debuted at No. 56 on the Direct Selling News Global 100, the annual industry ranking produced by Direct Selling News magazine. This growth is truly giving It Works! a global reach. We currently have thousands of Independent Distributors and Loyal Customers across three continents, 19 countries, and multiple territories – introducing New Zealand to our It Works! Family November 2014.

I am in contact with a wonderful Distributor name Christina Reck that answered all my questions regarding this company and wasn't pushy about having me sign up a loyal customer or under her. I am a Loyal Customer and have been for about 4 months now. I surprised her by signing up then catching her on Facebook and saying "Hey Girl! I just placed an order under you"! She was so excited and welcomed me as a Loyal Customer and explained how it worked. She took the opportunity to explain and send me her graphics that I can use on the products I ordered, and does random drops in online ( she lives in a different state as me) to check to see how I am doing and if the products are helping me. Believe me that most reps don't even bother popping in to say thank you or even offering to give advice if the products need a little help to understand,  She by far exceeds this expectation of mine about the company and her as a rep!

I got the chance to ask her some questions that I really wanted to know.
  1. What was your reason for getting into ItWorks?
" My family needed every little bit I could earn. We were jobless and living with my husband's parents. We were drowning in debt. "
      2. Have you gone through many Hardships as you were building up your business?
"Yes. I have had my ups and downs. With people quitting on me, I took it too much to heart. But once I moved on from that then I started building it up again. "

      3. What do you say when people say "Oh thats a Pyramid Scheme" "You can't make money           selling those" "The products don't work"?
"At first I don't say a word back. I instantly send them my personal results and my husbands personal results. Then I say "worked for us"

As far as money goes... I explain how I replaced Caleb's oil field pay with ItWorks and that he is fully retired now.
And that we are completely debt free now.
Their jaw usually drops 😁"
       4. How hard was it when you first started vs How you are doing now?
" It was hard because I didn't know what I was doing as far as attracting people and as far as not throwing too much info at people."

" I learned how to talk to people and keep them interested. I also learned that people will come and go in this business. But you have to stay motivated and remember your WHY and keep pushing."

Monday Blues? Monday Craziness!

Mondays..... The one day of the week nobody wants to come around! The weekend ends too fast every week.

Monday's in my house should be a parental relief! Nope! Not today it hasn't.

I start the day not being able to fully wake up, after a horrible nights sleep! Kid's had pictures today for two of my little demons as i call them. Got the cutest outfits so hopefully I have some smiles for 3rd and 5th grade..... they probably did those cheesy smiles on me lol.

My lovely husband calls and reminds me to take our sons phone to get a replacement ( they got phones friday), that turned into a disaster! Go to one place and they refer me to another store in the next to us. I forget the charger to the phone, so as i get there they find the problem and can replace it but I need the charger! After two trips I finally get back with all necessary parts, get it replaced and his pictures transferred. I now officially regret buying my kids phones, but anything to relieve my phone that is used for business the better!

My children get home from school, which the walk home I inform them, Friday the get to come to Penned Con with my mother and I... That was an arguement waiting to happen! You would think skipping school for a chance to meet authors, see lots of people who love to read, and there are their age limit books going to be there would spark some interest??? Nope they wanted to know if I will be getting them lunch and they dont want to walk to tables! What happen to my little readers??? My guess is the phones now lol.

To end my craziness for this time of the day, my eldest daughter who is 12, decides she doesnt want to attend cheer practice! After putting money into this for both girls and pictures are this week also, she doesn't want to cheer anymore! As I am writing this I find out shes mad that i refused to let her bring her phone to check the time and shes mad she is almost at her data limit already....she is constantly on wifi so i dont understand that one, but not a reason to not cheer with the girls since we are here!

I still have some time before they go to bed, maybe this crazy day that "Oh Wait!" My son decides to mess with his new phone and it wouldn't charge now! I currently have it charging finally and hes down walking with our friend around the track happy i fixed the new phone!

Could my day please end happily??? I feel the need to light one of my candles i sell, bury myself in my kindle books and escape the rest of the day in peace! This is a everyday craziness and I haven't got to post or do any business things today after all my running around!
